Detailed information, news and events for each year group

Early Years

The Nursery and Reception classes work together as a team and follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. At Canonbury we work to provide a supportive, safe and secure environment for our youngest children to learn, play and develop.

Year 1

Year 1 is made up of two classes, the first named after the God of light, healing poetry, prophecy and music, Apollo and the other after the God of hunting, animals and the wilderness (twin sister of Apollo), Artemis.

Year 2

Year 2 is made up of two classes, the first named after the God of wisdom, strategy, skill and tactics, Athena and the other after the legendary hero in Greek mythology Odysseus who was well known for his wisdom, eloquence, resourcefulness and courage.

Year 3

Year 3 is made up of two classes, the first named after the God of hearth and home, Hestia and the other is after the God of travel and messenger of the Gods, Hermes.

Year 4

Year 4 is made up of two classes, the first named after the legendary hero in Greek mythology Orpheus who was well known for his superhuman musical skills, and the other named Prometheus who was known as the creator of humankind and civilisation.

Year 5

Year 5 is made up of two classes, the first named after the mother of the Gods, Rhea and the other after the God of the sea and rivers, Poseidon.

Year 6

Year 6 is made up of two classes, the first named after the King of the Gods, Zeus and the other after the Goddess of women and marriage, Hera.
