27 Jul Thank you from the P.T.A
Another successful Summer Fete!
We just wanted to say a big big thank you, to everyone who came to the Summer Fete and as importantly to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a great success. The sun shone, lots of people came and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.
Congratulations to the winner of the Cake Competition for their amazing seaside cake, to the winners of Canonbury’s Got Talent competition and all those lucky raffle winners.
The Fete is as much a community event for the school and the local area, as it is to make a profit. It is an opportunity for the children to have a fun day out and for the parents to get a chance to socialise. It is important to note, that stalls serve different purposes – some are there, not to make money but to create a good atmosphere and at pocket money prices whilst others help us make a profit. Overall the Fete made a profit of £2,684 on the day. In addition we would like to thank all the local businesses who donated to the raffle and to Currell Estate Agents for their generous support over the years. This year they paid for our bouncy castle and through the estate agents signs, donated £1,000 to the school, taking the total amount we raised to £3,684.
Also Lunita acquired £1410 worth of books from your donations which the Library will use. This has been the most raised so far.
We will meet Patrick in September to understand what the school might like to spend the money on. However in the meantime, we are interested to learn from you all, whether you think there is anything the PTA needs to invest in, to make the Summer Fete even better – for eg weights to hold down the gazebos so they dont blow away. Also whilst fresh in your minds – do you have any general suggestions for next year about how the Fete could be improved. If so please email us on canonburypta@gmail.com
Finally we would like to thank the school staff for all their support and commitment – it wouldn’t have been possible with out all of you.
Thank you – Germaine, Shanel and Andrea
