06 Mar World Book Day 2017 festivities at Canonbury!
On Thursday 2nd March, Canonbury and schools across the world celebrated World Book Day. As is tradition, children and adults dressed up in book-related costumes to raise money for Book Aid International – a charity who use money raised to send books out to children in sub-Saharan Africa.
There was a storytelling theme this year: throughout the day Canonbury adults visited classes across the school and read stories to the children. On top of this, and by far the highlight of the day, was our Authorship Club Storytellers performing stories written by the winners of our ‘Behind The Door’ story competition. They storytellers learnt the stories off by heart (in less than 3 days!), created actions and produced sound effects to accompany the brilliant written creations. It was a real treat to listen to in our World Book Day
assembly.
Well done to everyone involved!
