06 Dec A Power for Good
In November we marked National Anti-Bullying Week with a series of activities to coincide with the theme of ‘A Power for Good’. Each class discussed what bullying is and what it is not. For example, Year 3 role-played a scenario and ‘freeze framed’ it so they could talk about how someone would feel in a situation where bullying behaviour was taking place. In Phase Assemblies, children considered why people bully and if there is such a thing as an ‘innocent bystander’ if they are in a group where someone is doing it. We asked: Would the bystander behave the same way if they were alone with the victim instead of in a group?
Following this work, a number of children wanted to write and present their own assemblies. So in addition to the Year 3-4 Phase Leader assembly, you can click on two presentations by Year 4 children. In the photo gallery above you can also see three year 5 and 6 children who wrote and performed a thought-provoking play about bullying, why it happened and how it was resolved.
On the Friday we joined the Children in Need day to the Power for Good theme and had a Big Dance in the playground. We dressed up in spots or as super-heroes, or even spotty superheroes! Our chef, Simone, laid on ‘spotty pizzas’ for lunch too…
