19 Sep A Sailor Went to Sea!
Year 2’s topic ‘A Sailor Went to Sea’ took us to the National Maritime Museum and aboard the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. We learnt about the skills needed to be a sailor, the types of food they ate on the Cutty Sark in the 1800s (ship’s biscuits were not as delicious as they sound – extra helping of weevils any body..?), and about the history of this fastest ship of its age.
We explored the Great Map in Maritime Museum using ipads to seek out treasures from different countries around the globe. What a great day!
