21 Jan Greetings from Treginnis
After a lengthy bus journey, with a record breaking accomplishment of no sick passengers and an echo of “Are we there yet?” when any livestock were spotted from the bus, we arrived in a flurry of excitement. Farmer Dan and his staff greeted us and we set about settling in and learning about the farm rules.
On Saturday morning, before alarm clocks had the opportunity to ring, the children were up and ready to start the day before the sun dawned. Through the dark we followed our farmers to begin the day.
Group A (Madoc, Chandra, Elif, Lucien, Adam, Alfie, Yaffet, Olivia and Finn) fed the pigs and poultry before dawn and later embarked on the challenge of spreading the compost across the vegetable patch.
Group B (Bobby, Roshawn, Ben, Felix, Niamh, Rosie, Maria, Rym, Charlie and Sadie) began the day with feeding and milking the lively goats, Afterwards, they sawed logs with gusto to use for the dining room fire.
Group C (Esme, Sanaa, Phoebe, Evie, Anya, Olmo, Atakan, Edo and Azad) started the day with a sheep check and later took the sheep dogs for a well deserved walk to Buzzard Rock.
After lunch, there are more tasks to complete and we expect our Junior Farmers to be quite hungry come dinner time!
Tomorrow, we look forward to more farm tasks and a coastal walk. Stay tuned for more news tomorrow…
