Packed Lunch and School Meals ~ Together at last
“We propose that children with packed lunches can eat at the same table as children who eat school meals.”
School Council recognise that the packed lunch table was set up so that children would not give their food away to others.
However, five councillors made an appointment with Patrick in order to persuade him that there were stronger reasons for eating together:
“Eating separately can lead to someone being left out of their friendship group. For example if one person is packed lunch and all their friends are school dinners.”
“At Canonbury we say that everybody is like a big family, so we should be able to eat together.”
“The temporary Headteacher came up with this idea so now you should decide because you are the permanent one.”
“We will do an assembly and let people know the rules about not giving their food away.”
Patrick was persuaded that eating together was in line with Canonbury values and was reassured that School Council would support good manners at every table.
