17 Mar Treginnis Day Three
Year 5 residential trip
Day 3:
There was another session in the Bake Off tent which produced a batch of delicious orange drizzle muffins.
Out on the farm we fed the pigs, which we’re really good at now. More chicks have hatched and the goats have continued to entertain.
Who knew digging up carrots could be so much fun? A fabulous time was had in a sunny field getting our hands dirty and connecting with the earth.
The highlight of the day was seeing the birth of a lamb. The children were almost silent, respectfully watching the ewe deliver her young. At the same time, another new born lamb was given to the birthing mother for adoption and we watched and learnt how the ewe is made to think that both lambs are hers. Within a short time both lambs were suckling. A success story!
All in all, another fabulous day on the farm.
Quotes from children
Elinor: ”The activities are amazing. I feel like a farmer.”
Marcus: ”I’ve enjoyed the stay at Treginnis. I’ve learnt to feed animals such as goats, lambs, pigs and more. I want to be outside more now because it feels like you can breathe and it’s fun.”
