22 Jan School Council Trip to Westminster
Trip to the Houses of Parliament
School Council had a fabulous time on our trip to the Houses of Parliament today!
We had a tour of Westminster Hall, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. We were still in the House of Commons as the room was cleared for Prime Minister’s Questions!
Councillors then took part in a lively workshop about the different parts of parliament, testing all the knowledge they’d learnt on their tour.
Halfway through the workshop, there was a very official-sounding knock on the door and two representatives appeared from the office of Emily Thornberry, our local MP! They’d heard we were visiting and stopped by to tell us more about their roles.
Our school councillors were excellent representatives for Canonbury – they listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions and participated with great enthusiasm throughout. Well done all!
Perhaps one day in the not-too-distant future, some of our school councillors will be inspired to walk the halls of Westminster as politicians themselves!
