St Patrick’s Day Celebrations
Sunday, 17th March, was St Patrick’s Day, a very special day for many people, here in London and across the globe, who share an Irish ancestry.
In Reception this week, we have looked at many Irish cultural traditions including: an introduction Irish dance, a look at a rural Irish school and its hinterland, (which we have compared and contrasted with our Canonbury school here in Islington), we looked at a clip of the Numberblocks speaking in Irish and then we enjoyed a clip of the national sport of Ireland, hurling.
We had the absolute pleasure of a local Irish community group ‘Meitheal Cheoil’ introducing us to toe-tapping Irish music and dance – a real treat that was enjoyed by all!
To finish off our brief encounter with Ireland and St Patrick’s Day, we made making traditional Irish soda bread. yum!
