23 Mar Beginning of Ramadan
Celebrating the beginning of Ramadan in the nursery
To celebrate the beginning of Ramadan on Thursday 23rd of March, we tried lots of tasty food that Muslims would eat to break their fast. The children really enjoyed naan bread and popadoms, lots of children loved dipping them in the mango chutney. We also tried some hummus, samosas and dates. We listened to some stories about Ramadan and they told us that the holy month begins on the first sighting of the crescent moon, so we created a moon and star decoration. We also learned that it is a time for giving to your community in any way you can, whether that is money, time or love.
