22 Jan Sunday: Coasting in Treginnis
After a hard day’s work yesterday, teachers were needed as alarm clocks this morning. We were met by some light rain but that did not dampen our spirits.
Group A started the day with the goats, milking and feeding. The children are becoming braver when entering the goat’s pen with food bowls as the goats cluster around them in anticipation.
Group B were with the sheep and new born lambs; the children had a chance to hold the lambs. Afterwards, they prepared the food for the farm’s 800 ewes and 32 rams!
Group C were on duty for Pigs and Poultry. They mixed feed for the pigs and piglets and laughed as they observed their messy ‘table manners’. Next, they collected eggs from the hens and fed the poultry stock.
At 1.30pm, we set off on our coastal walk. Initially we had some heavy rain but the clouds parted and the sun came out. Our guide, Farmer Les, talked to us about the wildlife around the coast. We had a brief pit stop at the beach and continued on to the harbour. All in all, a 4 mile walk. We finished the evening with more farm tasks and were rewarded with a Sunday roast dinner.
Tonight, things get competitive with a quiz!
