25 Mar Guerrilla Gardening in Year 3
Look at what Year 3 have been learning………….
Inspired by our class book ‘The Promise’, today we became guerrilla gardeners and spread wild flowers across parts of the playground which could do with a bit of brightening up. Calvin the gardener reminded us how important plants and flowers are to our environment, both physically (to help us breathe) and emotionally (to make us feel happy).
We mixed flower seeds, some gathered from dead flowers in the playground, with a small amount of compost and we sprinkled them in forgotten corners. He told us a rhyme to say while we dispersed the seeds:
One for the rook, One for the crow, One to rot and one to grow.
We look forward to seeing the fruits (flowers!) of our labours as the seasons change!
