25 Jan Life’s a Beach at Treginnis
The morning brought a strong wind and we headed off to our final morning tasks before sunrise. Group A sawed logs for the dining room fire, Group B fed sheep and calves before completing a sheep check and Group C fed the pigs and poultry for the last time.
After breakfast, Group C did some weeding in the farm garden whilst Group A and Group B teamed up to bag swedes and potatoes. A production line of ferrying the swede from the field to the chopping shed began whilst some children bagged up the swedes in nets. On the other side of the shed, potatoes were sorted and bagged for sale locally.
Next, it was time for the beach which is a short walk across the fields. We arrived at a beautiful beach and with the tide out there was plenty to explore. Some of the children went searching for crabs whilst others explored the rocks and rock pools. Waves crashed gently to the shore and many children and adults tried to escape the waves with limited success. With the beach to ourselves we had plenty of room to roam, skim stones and discover our stunning surroundings.
Later, we returned to the farm where we began to pack up for the journey home tomorrow. Expect to see us at Canonbury tomorrow with a rosy, happy glow after what has been a truly magical experience for all. Hasta mañana.
